Dr. Marcus Pimpleton
Program Coordinator/Director

Dr. Marcus J. Pimpleton is in his thirty-first year with the band and his twenty-first year as Director and Program Coordinator. In addition to serving as director of All-City, he is the director of the Around the Sound Community Band and an Assistant Director with the University of Washington Athletic Bands.  

 

From 2002 to 2015, Dr. Pimpleton served as the music department chair at Denny International Middle School during which time he was instrumental in the co-location of Denny International Middle School with Chief Sealth International High School, founding Denny Sealth Performing Arts, the booster organization supporting the two schools’ music programs. When he was teaching full time, Dr. Pimpleton taught concert band, marching band, jazz band, and steel drum ensembles at the middle and high school levels, coordinated over 300 student performances in local, regional, and national events and hosted numerous camps during winter, midwinter, and summer breaks for underserved elementary, middle, and high school students. His commitment to equity and musical excellence was recognized by KCTS which awarded him a Washington State Golden Apple Award and by the Alliance for Education which awarded him the Phillip B. Swain Excellence in teaching award.

In his day job, Dr. Pimpleton serves as principal of Mariner High School in the Mukilteo School District. He has a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D) from the University of Washington, a Doctorate in Ministry (D.Min) from the Hardy Academy of Theology, and a Master of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (M.Ed.) also from the University of Washington. He is a graduate of Chief Sealth High School.

Christopher Sears
Assistant Program Coordinator


Chris is going into his eleventh year with All-City. Having spent five years as a student in the Clarinet Section, two years as Clarinet Staff, and two years as an administrative assistant, he will be returning as the Assistant Program Coordinator for a second year. Chris graduated from the University of Washington in 2021 with a BA in History. While attending UW, he spent 5 years in the Husky Marching Band Clarinet Section and one year as the section leader and came back in 2022 for the alumni position of "Siren Squad." He currently works with the UW Spirit team for media, and in addition he serves on the board of the Husky Marching Band Alumni Association and helps raise and award $30,000+ in scholarships for the band every year. Chris was also a founding member of the Alpha Chapter of Eta Mu Beta, a service fraternity dedicated to preserving and enriching college spirit through community work and music. He currently, he runs the Eta Mu Band, a collection of current and alumni members of the fraternity that preform in various activities in the community such as the Pride Parade.

Chris is a current graduate student at the University of Washington, working towards a masters in teaching degree. He hopes to get a job teaching social studies in or around Seattle for this upcoming school year. Outside of work, he dedicates time to continuing to pursue, discuss, and explore history through media digitization, archival work, and history-based video production. Chris is excited to come back for another season of All City!

Patrick Gordon
Staff Coordinator

Patrick Gordon is the current Director of Bands at Robert Eagle Staff middle school where he leads their award-winning music program. This is his 13th year with ACB with 5 of those years as a student within the program and 8 years on staff. He has had many different roles in the program including Alto Saxophone section staff, Drum Major section staff, Staff Coordinator, and is returning this year as Assistant Director.

 

While he was obtaining his degree in Music Education at the University of Oregon, Patrick was a section leader for the Alto Saxophone Section, a Drum Major, and Band Council President for the Oregon Marching Band. He also holds a Master's in Education from Eastern Washington University. Patrick is looking forward to another great summer with the ACB band family!

Casey Kono
Staff Coordinator - Auxiliary

Casey is entering her eight year with All-City, and fifth year on staff! As a student in the band from 2014-2016, she was a member of the flag squad and served as lieutenant for two years. During this time, she had her first experience teaching through Junior All-City and quickly fell in love with education and color guard. 

 

In 2017, she graduated from Chief Sealth International High School where she was an active member of the flag squad for four years in both lieutenant and captain positions. After high school, she continued her education at Western Washington University and graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology, and with minors in psychology and dance. During her time at Western, Casey was a member of the dance team and loved spreading joy through performances all over the community. 

 

Outside of All-City, Casey is an educator at Seattle Girls’ School. Currently, she is an Associate Teacher and Student Advisor which has given her a range of experiences from supporting students with academic and social emotional development, to coaching sports and providing leadership opportunities for students. She can’t wait to be back in the All-City environment and is looking forward to another season full of parades, learning, and fun!

Chasen is entering his tenth year with All-City Band and his fourth on staff. He won the ACB Pride Award in his final season as a student in 2019. He graduated from UW Bothell in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He is a 5 year member of the Husky Marching Band, leading the sousaphone section in his final year. Previously, he tutored band students at Seattle middle and high schools. He is looking forward to supporting brass section staff this summer.

This is Theo's 6th year in the band, and 2nd on staff. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 2022, where he was drum major and played bassoon in the wind ensemble and symphony orchestra. Currently, Theo is going into his third year at Oregon State University studying for a major in music education with a minor in music performance. At Oregon State, he is a member of the piccolo section in the OSUMB, a member of the travelling pep band Rhythm and Beavs, and he plays bassoon in the wind symphony and as his main instrument. He is excited to work with the flutes and piccolos this summer. Go Beavs!

This will be my fifth year in all City and my first year as ACB staff. I graduated from West Seattle High School in 2023, where I was a clarinet section leader. I will be a sophomore in the 2024-2025 school year at Seattle University. I am an honors student majoring in Political Science with Specialization in Legal Studies doubling in Philosophy, and I hope to pursue law school after finishing my undergraduate.

Maleah Buchanan is super excited to be one of the saxophone staff members this summer! This is her fourth year on staff. She was in All-City Band for 4 years in high school, and was in her high school‘s (Kennedy Catholic HS) band and jazz band for all 4 years. She is super passionate about music! She is a Music Education Major with concentrations in Instrumental and Vocal at the illustrious HBCU, Langston University in Oklahoma. Here, she is a part of the Langston University Marching Pride Band. She can’t wait to meet all her students and work hard and have a great summer!

Saxophones

Ava Lim is a fourth-year student at the University of Washington and this will be her fourth year as an All-City Band staff member. She is studying Human-Centered Design and Engineering with a minor in music and is an active musician on campus playing in Husky Marching Band and Symphonic Band. With ACB being such a huge part of how she came to love band, Ava is beyond excited to give back and work alongside students this summer. Go Dawgs!

This is Carmen's fifth year with the All City Band trumpet section, and her first year on staff. Carmen graduated from Franklin High School in 2023 where she played the trumpet for four years. She is currently at Oregon State University where she plays trumpet in the marching band and is studying crop and soil sciences. She is excited to work with the trumpet section this summer!

The 2024 season is Onyx's fourth year with the All-City Band, and their first year as staff.
Onyx graduated from Ballard High School in 2023 where they were the trombone section leader their senior year and received an Award of Excellence for their work with the band. During their time at Ballard, they played trombone and bass trombone while participating in the Marching Band, Brass Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Pit Orchestra.
Onyx is currently in their first year at the University of British Columbia - Okanagan Campus, where they are studying computer science and enjoy playing with the Kelowna City Band.
Onyx is looking forward to being part of the ACB staff this summer and is excited to head to DC!

Marcus is entering his 9th summer with the All City Band. During his 5 years as a student, Marcus was a part of the trumpet section and won the Pride Award in 2018. He graduated from Chief Sealth High School in 2018 and now is a student at the University of Washington studying Music Education. While at the UW, Marcus was a part of the Husky Band for 5 years, serving as Trumpet Section Leader for one year. He is excited to be returning as the Sousa Staff this summer.

Neizer Xavier Olivera Rivera
Percussion - Snare Tech

This is upcoming season will be Neizer’s sixth season in All City Band. While in All City, he has been a part of the Bass, Tenor, and Snare sections. He has participated in groups such as Ingraham High School Band, Seismic Sound, and Husky Band. He graduated from Ingraham High School and is currently studying Business Administration at North Seattle College. He is looking forward to the fun and challenging moments this season!

Percussion - Bass Drum Tech

This is Calder’s fourth year with All-City Band and first year as staff. He is currently studying Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington. Calder went to Nathan Hale High School and joined the All-City Band looking for new opportunities outside of his school’s band. After entering the band, he gathered experience in cymbals, bass drum, and tenors, before joining the Husky Marching Band as a tenor drummer. Calder is excited to begin his journey as a staff member for All-City and is looking forward to helping students learn and grow!

This is Finn’s seventh year in All City and third on staff. Finn graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelors in Psychology and is currently taking a gap year before going back to school to pursue a Masters in Counseling. Finn has been a member of the Cougar Marching Band, Seismic Sound Drumline, and Seattle All-City Marching Band. Finn is excited to be working with the tenors again this season.

David graduated from Ingraham High School and is going to be entering his third year at the University of Washington this fall, majoring in Multilingual Educational Studies and minoring in music and American Indian Studies. David is currently a cymbal player in the UW Husky Marching Band and Drumline. This is going to be his fourth year with All-City, second year on staff, and is so excited to work with the cymbal section again!

Corey Kosewics-Strickland
Color Guard

The 2024 season will be Corey’s fourth year in All-City, and his first on staff. During his time in the band, Corey served as the lieutenant of the color guard and won the ‘Unsung Hero’ award. 

In 2023, Corey graduated from Ingraham High School where he was color guard captain and got the opportunity to choreograph and teach routines to his peers. Corey worked to create the Ingraham color guard in 2020, and each year since then, it has grown in number! 

 

Since graduating, Corey has taken a gap year during which he gained experience working with students as a before-and-after-school care instructor at various elementary schools. During this time, Corey has also had the incredible opportunity to spin flag with Rhapsody Winterguard, the Pacific Northwest’s Premier Colorguard. Corey was thrilled to get to perform with Rhapsody in the WGI World Championships.

 

In the Fall of 2024, Corey will be attending the University of Oregon where he’ll be studying Music Education to become a high school choir teacher. He plans to continue his color guard journey at UO.

Corey is so excited to return to all city as a staff member! Gooooo flag squad!!

Rowan Preedy
Drum Majors

Rowan is entering his fifth year with ACB, and his first year on staff. He is currently a student at the University of Washington (Go Dawgs!), studying Materials Science and Engineering, while also participating in the Husky Marching Band in the clarinet section. He graduated from West Seattle High School in 2023, where he played snare drum in the marching band, and the baritone saxophone in the jazz band. He's beyond excited to work with an excellent drum major squad this upcoming summer!

Hey y’all! My name’s Henry. I’m a freshman at Central Washington University studying music education and trombone performance. I graduated from West Seattle High School and South Seattle College in the summer and fall of 2023. I am very passionate about music and can’t seem to go more than a few minutes without it finding its way into what I’m doing. I am very excited to be working on staff for the 2024 Seattle All-City Marching and look forward to being a part of the band again!

Yize Smith-Rockne
Instructional Assistant

This will be Yize’s (pronounced “Eat-za”) eighth year with the All-City Band and her fourth year on staff. Yize will graduate this spring from Willamette University with majors in biology and mathematics, and minors in chemistry and music. After graduating, she plans on working as a computational biomedical research assistant. Starting at the age of five, she has played the violin, clarinet, and bassoon, performing in orchestras, concert bands, and pep bands. Currently, she plays the bassoon in the Willamette University Chamber Orchestra, Willamette University Wind Ensemble, and Opera Theater Ensemble. After three years working with the clarinet section, Yize is very excited to return to ACB to support the full band as an instructional assistant this summer!

Max is entering his eighth year in All City and his third on staff! He played clarinet for all five of his years as a student in All City and is excited to be back as media staff this year. While in the band, he served on Band Council, holding positions of Treasurer and President. Max graduated from Raisbeck Aviation High School in 2020 and is graduating from the University of Washington, Bothell with a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering in June 2024.

This upcoming season will be Galaxy’s third year with the All City Band, and her first on staff. She recently graduated from West Seattle High School and is now studying Fine Arts and Political Science at Seattle Central Community College. Galaxy is a bass player with the Seismic Sound drumline and spends the rest of her time as a competitive hip-hop dancer and academic weapon. She’s so excited to connect with everyone this summer and can’t wait to get started!
